Discount Calculator
See the price you will actually pay during a sale, and how much you save. Supports double discounts such as '50% + 20% extra off'.
Updated
Formula
Sale price = Price × (1 − Discount ÷ 100)
With extra discount: × (1 − Extra ÷ 100)
Saving = Price − Sale price
Stacked discounts are applied one after another, so they add up to less than their sum.
Examples
Rs 5,000 with 30% off
Rs 5,000.00 with 30% off = Rs 3,500.00
Rs 12,000 with 50% + 20% off
Rs 12,000.00 with 50% + 20% off = Rs 4,800.00
Rs 2,499 with 15% off
Rs 2,499.00 with 15% off = Rs 2,124.15
Important information
- Check whether a sale price already includes GST, and whether delivery is extra.
- 'Up to 70% off' usually applies to a few items only.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the saving; subtract it from the price. 30% off Rs 5,000 = Rs 1,500 saving, so you pay Rs 3,500.
Is 50% + 20% off the same as 70% off?
No. 50% off then 20% off the reduced price is 60% off in total.
How do I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount). A Rs 3,500 price after 30% off was originally 3,500 ÷ 0.7 = Rs 5,000.
What is a flat discount?
A fixed rupee amount off (e.g. Rs 500 off), rather than a percentage.
