Frequently asked questions

How do I compare a price per Marla with a price per square foot?

Divide the price per Marla by the Marla size. At 272.25 sq ft per Marla, Rs 15 lakh per Marla is about Rs 5,510 per sq ft; at 225 sq ft it is Rs 6,667 per sq ft.

Does this include transfer fees and taxes?

No. Those depend on the province, the property's FBR/DC valuation and whether you are an active tax filer. Ask your property dealer or tax adviser for the current figures.

What is a fair price per Marla?

It depends entirely on location, block, road width, corner/park-facing status and whether utilities are available. Use recent sale prices for similar plots nearby as your benchmark.

Why do some people say 1 Marla is 225 square feet?

Many planned housing societies and development authorities define a Marla as 225 sq ft (so a Kanal is 4,500 sq ft). The traditional revenue standard used for agricultural land and land records is 272.25 sq ft. Both are in common use, so check the documents for the plot you are dealing with.
