Exponent Calculator — Powers
Calculate xⁿ for any base and exponent — whole, negative or decimal. Big results are shown in scientific notation too.
Updated
Formula
xⁿ = x × x × … × x (n times)
x⁻ⁿ = 1 ÷ xⁿ
x^(1/n) = ⁿ√x
Any non-zero number to the power 0 is 1.
Examples
2¹⁰
2^10 = 1,024
10⁻³
10^-3 = 0.001
1.05¹⁰ (10 years at 5% growth)
1.05^10 = 1.6288946268
Important information
- Exponents are how compound growth works: money growing at 10% a year for 5 years multiplies by 1.1⁵ ≈ 1.61.
