Electricity Cost Calculator

Work out how many units (kWh) any device uses in a month and what that costs at your electricity rate.

Example rate. Divide the total of your last bill by the units used to get your real rate.

Result

Rs 19,800 / month

360 units (kWh) per month ≈ Rs 19,800 at Rs 55.00/unit

  • Tariffs change with slabs, fuel adjustments and taxes, so check your latest bill for your actual rate per unit.

Formula

kWh = Watts × Hours per day × Days ÷ 1000

Cost = kWh × Rate per unit

One unit on your bill is one kilowatt-hour (kWh): 1,000 watts running for one hour.

Examples

  • 1.5 ton AC (1,700 W) for 8 h/day

408 units (kWh) per month ≈ Rs 22,440 at Rs 55.00/unit

  • 5 fans (80 W) for 12 h/day

144 units (kWh) per month ≈ Rs 7,920 at Rs 55.00/unit

  • Water pump (750 W) for 1 h/day

22.5 units (kWh) per month ≈ Rs 1,238 at Rs 55.00/unit

Important information

  • Electricity tariffs in Pakistan change often and depend on your DISCO (LESCO, IESCO, K-Electric, MEPCO, etc.), monthly slab, protected/unprotected status, fuel price adjustment and taxes. That is why the rate is always an input — pre-filled with an example of Rs 55 per unit.
  • To find your real all-in rate, divide the total amount on your latest bill by the units consumed.
  • Since 2026, domestic bills also include a fixed monthly charge based on sanctioned load (kW), in addition to the per-unit charge — add it as a fixed charge in the bill estimator.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate electricity units?

Multiply the wattage by hours used per day and by the number of days, then divide by 1,000. A 100 W TV for 5 hours a day for 30 days uses 15 units.

What is one unit of electricity?

One kilowatt-hour (kWh) — the energy used by a 1,000-watt appliance in one hour.

Why is my bill higher than units × rate?

Bills include fixed charges, fuel price adjustments, taxes and duties, and the rate can jump when you cross a slab.

Where do I find an appliance's wattage?

On the rating label or in the manual. For ACs, look for the rated input power (W), not the cooling capacity (BTU).
