Formula
Needed = (Target − Current × (1 − Weight)) ÷ Weight
Weight is the final's share of the course grade (e.g. 40% = 0.4). Current is your percentage on everything before the final.

Current 72%, final worth 40%, target 80%
You need 92% on the final to finish with 80%
Current 85%, final worth 50%, target 85%
You need 85% on the final to finish with 85%
Current 60%, final worth 30%, target 85%
You need 143.33% on the final to finish with 85% — above 100%, so not reachable
