Formula
Seed needed (kg) = Area (acres) × Seed rate (kg/acre)
Cost = Seed needed × Price per kg
Kanal and hectares are converted to acres first (8 kanal = 1 acre; 1 hectare = 2.471 acres).

Important information
- Use the seed rate recommended for your variety and sowing method. Drill sowing usually needs less seed than broadcasting.
- Late sowing often needs a higher seed rate to make up for fewer tillers.
- Sugarcane seed is measured as cane setts by weight, so its seed rate is in thousands of kg.

How much wheat seed per acre?

Hybrid maize typically needs about 8–12 kg per acre depending on seed size and plant population.
